Outline

Asia meets Asia explored hope for the future in coexistence with based on the issue of Global Warming Crisis. “ECHO” as a keyword to face the climate crisis, participants from nine Asian cities (Bangalore, Delhi, Baghdad, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Abra, Baguio, Busan, and Tokyo) gathered for touring performances, workshops, and symposiums in two cities: Busan, South Korea and Tokyo. In both cities, we invited director Anas Abdul Samed from Iraq as a lecturer and held a two-day workshop on the subject “Oxygen from Baghdad”. In addition, environmental activists (Min Eunju and Changpa at Busan on the 1 day, Mutsumi Kurobe at Tokyo for 2 days) were invited as panelists for the symposium to discuss environmental issues in various area of Asia with the participants and audiences.

NPO Asia meets Asia
It was founded in 1997 with the aim of promoting contemporary performing arts exchange activities in Asia. It held festivals with participants from 22 Asian regions, from Jakarta in the east to Syria in the west, six times incorporating performances, workshops, and symposiums. Later, it has led to collaborative activities, pioneering its own stage creation that breaks away from existing styles of expression. In 2012, it launched the “Asia Tour” with the aim of expanding its activities centered in Tokyo to various area of Asia.
