Bringing together people with experience in various genres of dance music in Japan, this is a week-long event combining DJs and live music with conferences offering barrier-transcending discussion on the history and significance of dance music, as well as the challenges currently faced by the industry, the prospects for its future, and more. Now in its fifth year since its launch in 2010, the event attracts over 100,000 people every year, including real-time streaming audiences. Musical artists appearing this year include Zeebra, Kan Takagi, Ko Kimura, Shuya Okino, Tomoyuki Tanaka, and Otoboke Beaver.
【Japan Dance Music & DJ Association】
The aim of JDDA is to promote and popularize the artistic and cultural aspects of dance music and improve the performance techniques of DJs. It is a member of GEIDANKYO, the Japan Council of Performers Rights & Performing Arts Organizations, and a board member of Japan Nighttime Economy Association. JDDA operates/produces the online yearbook for DJs, “Japan DJ.net,” as well as “TOKYO DANCE MUSIC WEEK.”
【Atsushi Tsunoda (Watusi) 】
Artist, composer/arranger, and sound producer. Formed the Association for the Protection of Clubs and Club Culture in 2013. In his capacity as acting chairperson he has put his all into revisions to laws covering the entertainment and amusement business. Through the Japan Dance Music & DJ Association (JDDA) started by Tsunoda, he currently works on the creation of next-generation culture. He serves as vice director of mpn (Music People’s Nest), which deals in related rights. This is his fifth year as the host of “TOKYO M.A.A.D SPIN,” a radio program which began on J-WAVE in 2019.
