Under the concept “WE CAN EXPAND,” MOVE FES. 2024 was designed as an event for raising awareness of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) as well as developing and expanding the future of human augmentation (the use of science and technology for enhancing physical capabilities) by combining the power of technology with the creative power of people.
The event offered a variety of borderless features, including technology-assisted live performances by artists, ALS-related talk shows, a robot pop-up store, and more.
Organizers took on the challenge of giving the world’s first human augmentation-driven live performances incorporating cutting-edge technology, including a live performance by Masatane Muto, also known as EYE VDJ MASA, who operates music and video through eye tracking, controls digital avatars through myoelectric sensors, and moves robotic arms with his brain waves. The music showcased by EYE VDJ MASA comprised original music written and composed solely with eye input technology. MOVE FES. 2024 was attended by roughly 823 in-person visitors, including participants with disabilities such as ALS. The total number of approximately 1,300 participants included live stream and metaverse users.
