Outline

Local performing arts are an irreplaceable part of local culture, and their
inheritance and development is one of the challenges facing municipalities.
The Tama River is the biggest symbol of the Tama region, and the local
authorities in the basin – Tabayama Village, Okutama Town, Hino City,
Fuchu City, Kosuge Village, Tama City, Inagi City, Chofu City and Komae
City – are working together to hold the Tama River Basin Folk Performing
Arts Festival, in which local performing arts compete with each other. The
aim is to promote exchanges in the basin and to revitalise the respective
municipalities.
In 2024, there will be “Wadaiko” by the Daibosatsu Goko Taiko Preservation Society, “Lion Dance” by Okuhikawa Shrine, “Hayashi” by the Fuchu Hayashi Preservation Society Honjuku Branch, “Hayashi” by the Hino City Festival Bayashi Association, and Tama Taiko Love. A total of 8 performances were performed: “Wadaiko” by the Kokai, “Wadaiko” by Inagi Taiko, “Hayashi” by the Shimofuda Hayashi Ren of the Chofu City Folk Performing Arts Festival Bayashi Preservation Association, and “Ohayashi” by the Tamagawa Bayashi Preservation Society.
