As the first chapter of the company’s inaugural three-year-long project, “The Trilogy of Life and Death,” “Death and the Maiden” was unveiled. Following its premiere in Paris, France, in February, and triumphant performances in April, the piece underwent several recreations before culminating in the company’s main production in November, where the definitive version of “Death and the Maiden” was performed. By reinterpreting the figure of the Grim Reaper as portrayed in the original work, the piece delves into the universal question of what it means to “live” in this world for us, who are all, in some way, left behind by someone.
