Since2018, we have been carrying out international exchange through theater with Taiwan, based on our corporate philosophy of “From SHIMOKITA to the World.” We believe that this will promote cultural exchange across borders and contribute to the development of the theater world in both countries. The play is written and directed by Kawana Yukihiro, the founder of the theater company “Tokyo Yako,” who is skilled at depicting profound human drama through delicate nuances of words with unique spatial direction. The story is set in the hot spring town “Kitanosawa Onsen” during the war in the 1940s. Elderly men who were spared from military deployment enthusiastically begin preparations for a festival, but the war situation is worsening. The festival has no history or tradition, and no supporters or bearers. This is the story of men who, even though they are told that it is reckless, push through the muddy waters with their beliefs toward a light that they cannot see.
