Kamimachi March

  • Organization : Specified Nonprofit Corporation Art’sEmbrace
  • Section : None
  • Type of Grant Program : Single

Outline

Incorporating an artist’s perspective into the daily activities of the facility Kamimachi Co-bo (Support for Continuous Employment Type B) and communicating to the neighborhood rich and meaningful moments from everyday life at the facility and the relationships between staff and facility members have created a point of contact between local residents and facility members. To give specific examples, facility members gave a dance performance called “Kamimachi Guts Ondo” as they paraded around a nearby greenway, the station plaza, a park, cafes, etc.; while the “Kamimachi Wrapping” project involved artists and facility members creating visual art together for decorating the outside of the facility, the exterior walls of nearby facilities, and neighborhood bulletin boards. Through these initiatives, organizers managed to create numerous opportunities for facility members to have positive encounters with as many local people as possible.
