Two forms of traditional culture, Noh and Rakugo, can be enjoyed at once in this one-day-only event. For night lighting, the bamboo that grows wild around the temple is cut and made into lanterns, which are placed around the stage and garden to create a subtle, mysterious environment. A Noh expert will give a mini-lecture prior to the Noh performance, explaining specific highlights of the play.
People who tend to think of Noh as difficult to approach or who have never seen Noh before had the opportunity to watch an accessible and entertaining Noh performance in an informal setting.
Principal performers: Shunputei Ichinosuke (Rakugo), Jiichi Asami (Noh)

The group was established in April 1998 by four people, led by the late Masataka Asami, a Noh performer with ties to the Asami clan, and three others. All three are active as leading Noh performers, and regularly give high-quality performances at Yoyogi Nohbutai, the home ground of Noh. This year marks the 14th Bamboo lanterns Noh event.
