  • Type of Grant Program : Single

Outline

Mitake Gorge has long been an area boasting a strong affinity with art; it has many art museums including the Gyokudo Art Museum, built to commemorate the later years of the great Nihonga Japanese style painter Kawai Gyokudo, and it hosts the annual OKUTAMA ART FESTIVAL.
For this event, 12 artists/groups will present a range of artworks, including paintings, sculptures, installations, performance pieces, dance works, and live music at locations along the river in the Mitake Gorge, which runs from Mitake Station to Ikusabata Station. In addition to visitors being able to enjoy artworks whilst rafting down the river, this project will also feature a contemporary art exhibition at a separate venue, the National Museum of Art, Okutama (MOAO).

Profile

Ongoing Association
The purpose of Ongoing Association is to create a new art culture by networking many art spots scattered throughout Japan and abroad, to raise the cultural level of local communities, and to disseminate sensational, ongoing art, and to develop activities that enrich and stimulate the sensibilities of many people, including children who will be responsible for the future. The purpose is to contribute to the improvement of culture and education.
In addition, we aim to create an environment in which artists based in Tokyo can scrutinize and develop their own expressions, and to give value to their expressions from an international perspective.
