Soul of ODYSSEY
Contents: Based on Homer’s epic poem “The Odyssey,” the play is a journey of a hero’s trials and tribulations, with a total of 14 performers and musicians, all of whom speak in their native languages (Japanese, English, Malay, Chinese, Cantonese, etc.). Five members were selected from the members of the first Malaysian production in 2023, and nine Japanese were selected to create this production. In addition to theater and contemporary dance, the production will fuse classical Japanese elements such as Noh, Gagaku, Japanese drums, and Japanese dance with Malaysian dance and a variety of Indo-Malaysian music.

Hiroshi Koike (Artistic Director) presided over “Papa Tarahumara” from 1982-2012 and “Hiroshi Koike Bridge Project-ODYSSEY” from 2012. He has created 90 works in 18 countries and performed in 42 countries. Collaborating with multinational artists, he has developed spectacular stages that fuse physical expression, music, video, and art. He is currently promoting the “Phoenix Project. He won the Best Performance Award at the Theatre Olympics in India, and was selected as the best play of the year in Poland.
