This program aimed at adults aged 18 and over who have little opportunity of contact with traditional culture and performing arts on a daily base introduces the appeal of traditional culture and performing arts from different angles by integrating lectures, performances and hands-on experiences of various genres of traditional culture and performing arts.

Koto x Ikebana performance

Utanoichi Okuda (Seiha Hogaku-Kai), Sougyoku Imamura (Sogetsu School teacher)


Hands-on experiences

Koto: Enjoy the delicate and impressive sound of the koto, and then try your hand at playing in a small ensemble
Ikebana: Experience and familiarize yourself with the art of flower-arranging Japanese style
Shamisen: Learn how to hold the instrument correctly and use a “bachi”plectrum to pluck the strings and enjoy the shamisen’s dynamic sound
(Participants can enjoy hands-on experiences in all three genres)

*If there are a large number of applications, a lottery will be held, and the lottery result will be sent to your registered e-mail address by around Friday, September 9.
*If the number of applicants is less than capacity, applications will be accepted on a first-come first-served basis from Monday, September 12.
