Memorial Rebirth Senju is a performance art piece that transforms familiar places and scenes with airy soap bubbles. Since starting in Senju’s Iroha-dori in March 2012, the project has gone around the area like a relay baton, taking place every year in different locations such as elementary schools and parks. We are seeking new members for Ohmaki Denki K.K., the support staff who look after and operate the soap bubble machines and lie at the core of the Memorial Rebirth project.
Ohmaki Denki K.K. is a team of citizens who support and create Memorial Rebirth.
The team provides operational support on the day of the event, which is held roughly once a year, and also organizes the pre-event “Fuwari◎Shabondama,”working with various locations and people to build “value creation” in the run-up to the actual event.
No prior knowledge of art or electronics is required. Volunteers will be working with students from Tokyo University of the Arts (the Faculty of Music and the Graduate School of Global Arts) as well as NPO staff.
Our diverse members range in age from their 20s to their 60s, including those who are interested in local/community activities, those who have moved to Adachi-ku, and those who are native to Adachi-ku, are bringing their different interests and working together.
This year, we will conduct a variety of activities ahead of the actual event, scheduled for winter 2024.
If you have only ever “watched” Memorial Rebirth, why not dive right into“presenting” it together with the rest of the team here?
This event will provide an introduction to Memorial Rebirth, and the activities of Ohmaki Denki K.K.. Ohmaki Denki K.K. members will also explain the care and operation of the soap bubble machines.
