Yebisu International Festival for Art & Alternative Visions 2016

Garden in Movement

Genre:
  • Visual Art / Media Art ,
  • Exhibition / Screening

Yebisu International Festival for Art & Alternative Visions is the eighth outing for an art and film festival that has introduced a wide cross-genre range of contemporary art and film drama, experimental films and video art, documentaries, independent films and media art as well as dance, theater, music, and more.

The starting point for this 8th Yebisu International Festival for Art & Alternative Visions is the concept of the “Garden in Movement,” which reconsiders modern society as a garden undergoing daily transformation. Through various artistic works on film, media expression etc., not only nature in a literal sense but the things that ought to be considered “contemporary nature” – i.e. human-produced technology, rapidly-changing urban environments and the invisible network society – will manifest themselves as contemporary visions.
What world picture will be generated together with nature rather than predominantly with man? With the “Garden in Movement” concept providing new interpretations of the garden, this festival traverses the contemporary world of images while looking in the direction of the natural world that surrounds us.
