Five years since the premiere of the group piece “Town With No Seasons” in 2012, Co. Un Yamada has seen a remarkable development in terms of physical abilities and capacities to share the choreographer’s artistic directions. Together with company dancers the choreographer revised the work and restaged it for a larger audience.
Based on the same Shūgorō Yamamoto novel as the famous Akira Kurosawa movie “Dodes’ka-den”, this human drama is full of joys and sorrows of working-class residents’ lives in a fictional shanty town. Co. Un Yamada’s version features Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony as its theme music throughout.
