In 2016,at the opportunity of the centenary of Mr. Minao Shibata, one of the greatest composers in Japan, and 20th anniversary of his death, the concert of which program consists of masterpieces composed by him will be conducted by Mr. Kazuki Yamada who is one of the most active conductors among younger generations in the world and has been thinking that Shibata’s music should be much more prevailed and succeeded by the next generation in our country. The concert is performed by the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra and the Philharmonic Chorus of Tokyo both of which are celebrating their 60th anniversary as well as the Chorus of Musashino Academia Musicae.

【Kazuki Yamada】
Yamada studied music at the Tokyo University of the Arts, where his conducting teachers included Ken-ichiro Kobayashi and Yoko Matsuo. He won the first prize at the 51st International Competition for Young Conductors in Besançon in 2009. Other honours include the Akeo Watanabe Music Foundation Music Award, the Hideo Saito Memorial Fund Award and the best young musician Award of the Cultural Agency’s Arts Festival. His titles include the Principal Conductor of the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, the Music Director of the Philharmonic Chorus of Tokyo, the Principal Guest Conductor of Orchestre de la Suisse Romande. He is scheduled to be the Artistic Director and the Musical Director of Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo from September 2016.
