Profile

KENTARO!!
Born in 1980. Although his activity is based in techniques derived mainly from hiphop, his unique expressive style has been far removed from existing stylized performance. In recent years he has been creating story-like dances made up of thoroughly interwoven meaning and meaninglessness, synchronized in an ambiguous way with sounds of his own composition.

In 2008, KENTARO!! received the French Embassy Prize for Young Choreographers at Yokohama Dance Collection R. He won the Audience Prize and Next Age Choreographer Award at the Toyota Choreography Awards 2008. In 2010 he was awarded the Japan Dance Forum Award 2010.
He has received many invitations to perform in other countries. He energetically conveys his feelings and his dance to the world.
In 2010, he became a Saison Junior Fellow artist.
