BATIK will be performing their most famous play, SHOKU (first performed in 2004) at the KINJIKI 3rd International Performing Arts Festival in Hungary. This will be the first eastern European tour for BATIK, an all-female contemporary dance company that has performed many times both in Japan and overseas.
BATIK is an all-female dance company founded in 2002 by choreographer Ikuyo Kuroda. They officially started as a professional dance company in 2002. Their main works are SIDE B (2002), SHOKU (2004), Flowers flow, and pendanteve (2007). Their dynamic and hard movements are based on ballet with the natural urge of dance, and they have many fans from differnt genres. Besides performing in Japan, the company has given overseas performances on various occasions.
