“Chofu Matsuri-bayashi,” transmitted from Edo in the middle of the Meiji Era, was descended from the “Yamanote Bayashi” and “Shitamachi Bayashi.” The first Chofu City folk arts festival music preservation society convention was held in 1958 in the Chofu Station South Exit square. The hayashi group originally consisted of 8 teams, and today it is made up of 15 teams including the children’s hayashi group.
