What we do

Responding to Ko Murobushi

  • Organization : Ko&Edge
  • Section : In Tokyo
  • Type of Grant Program : Single

11 Dancers will participate to this project. Dancers will research at archive with materials, for example with texts, Videos and conversation with researchers so on during two weeks. Then they will make own solo performances as a work in progress. During this 6 months we have 11 Solo performances and several video screening of Ko Murobushi and open discussion. Through those activities, we, as an archive and dancer, will think about in the true sense of inheritance and meaning of archive. Seven dancers come from Ko’s last and not realized project “Nijinski a minuit” and one dancer comes from research class at ImPulstanz on 2014. Emanuelle Huyn, Nuno Bizarro, and Bernardo Montet were good friend of Ko and they are thinking to continue this project for the future.

Ko&Edge was established in 2015 after Ko Murobushi was passed away to organize materials as an archive and to organize project.
We are organizing “Wandering Archive Project” in all over the world as inheritance of his last event that was held at Yokohama in 2013, it called [One thousand and one nights of “outside”]. Also we published his texts from Kawade Shobou Shinsha this January. We will also continue to contact with publishers to publish translated book.
As our plan, we will continue “Wandering Archive Project” in London, Mexico and several other countries and also try to bring “Archive Café Shy” to Dance Festival as a place where we can discuss and exchange our idea freely through thinking about “Dance”.
