〈Ftarri Festival 2019〉
With many invited improvisational musicians who perform internationally, Ftarri Festival provided an opportunity to experience in an intensive way the diverse range of performances that form today’s improvisational music scene. Focusing on approaches to composed music, the two days at the venue sonorium consisted mainly of composed works performed by improvisational and contemporary classical musicians. On the two days at the venue BUoY, on the other hand, the programs provided opportunities to enjoy a wide range of improvised music styles. Additionally, small-scale concerts by musicians from overseas were held on four days in the intimate performance space Ftarri. The musicians who appeared in Ftarri Festival include Michael Thieke, Kai Fagaschinski, Margareth Kammerer, Biliana Voutchkova, Magnus Granberg, Dante Boon, Cristián Alvear, Klaus Lang, Samuel Dunscombe, Johnny Chang, Carl Stone, Ryoko Akama, Satoko Inoue, Otomo Yoshihide, Sachiko M, Junji Hirose, and Kazuo Imai.
