Anyone with internet access can enjoy Suginami’s artistic and cultural offerings on the spot when the SUGINAMI WEB MUSEUM OF ART & CULTURE opens in October. This entertaining virtual museum, unique to the online environment, will feature exhibition of art works, a museum shop, a library and more, including for a limited time special exhibition “Bata Art Exhibition,” with various other exhibitions in the pipeline. Designed as part of the cultural festival accompanying the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, this initiative proposes a new model for the arts.
Suginami City is a residential city of approximately 570,000 people, located in
the western part of the area making up the 23 special wards in the Tokyo metropolis. The streets around the main stations of the JR Chuo Line (Nishi-Ogikubo, Ogikubo, Asagaya and Koenji) are home to countless shops and restaurants, with each station area offering a unique cityscape.
