The popular Kyoto-based theatrical troupe EUROPE KIKAKU (known for the theater-production-turned-movies “Summer Time Machine Blues” and “Go Find a Psychic!”), the independent movie theater Shimokitazawa Tollywood, and the Shimokitazawa Film Festival have joined forces to present “Beyond the Infinite Two Minutes,” EUROPE KIKAKU’s first original feature film. This film, a rarely seen cinematic collaboration between a theatrical troupe, an independent movie theater, and a film festival, will open in Tokyo. The film was scripted by Makoto Ueda, directed by Junta Yamaguchi, and stars Kazunari Tosa and Aki Asakura. A version with English subtitles will also be produced and released, in order to convey to foreign residents of Japan and overseas tourists the appeal of this film, which has a “fun structure” transcending language and cultural differences.

EUROPE KIKAKU is a theatrical troupe formed in 1988. Based in Kyoto, EUROPE KIKAKU has consistently produced comedy. The ensemble cast of characters has a knack for lively comedy that restlessly engages in conversations
that take place in sci-fi and fantasy worlds or tricky areas reminiscent of video games. In recent years, EUROPE KIKAKU has been on a quest for a rare type of “inventive comedy” with unique theatre structure, large-scale gimmicks, and ideas rooted in inventiveness that nobody else can imagine.
