Profile

World Taiko Conference Committee
The committee was organized for the purpose of implementing the first Japan-hosted World Taiko Conference on the occasion of the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics. The committee, as well as comprising a wide range of people involved in taiko whose experiences of working together had thus far been limited, also includes experts and academics with a track record in running international cultural events and conferences.
With this event, people involved in taiko who until now have been working individually will come together under one roof and interact with each other beyond the barriers that exist between the groups, providing opportunities to promote the formation of an international network in the world of taiko and the cultivation of new talent to take taiko into the future. In addition, the event will provide a forum for people to get to know and appreciate taiko culture regardless of nationality, age, gender, or disability, and leverage taiko’s universal and socially inclusive characteristics to advocate the potential of a multicultural society.
