Event features
This is a course aimed at beginners in Ryukyu traditional performing arts. Ryukyu buyo lessons will start with the methods for holding/moving around with a folding fan, after which participants will learn the classic Ryukyu buyo dance “Kagiyade Fu” over ten practice sessions. Sanshin lessons will begin with the basics of holding the instrument and reading “Kunkunshi” notation, after which participants will learn “Ahabushi” over ten practice sessions. A recital will be organized to rehearse for stage appearances and provide participants with an opportunity to actually perform on stage in costume and make-up.

Office IKD Co.,Ltd. runs classes in Ryukyu buyo and Sanshin in the metropolitan area, so instructors can be introduced to those who wish to continue with lessons after the hands-on experience program has ended.

With a Ryukyu buyo dance school in Tokyo’s Minato-ku, the group focuses on performing and teaching of Ryukyu traditional performing arts. Centering on the metropolitan Tokyo area the organization engages in the preservation and promotion of Ryukyu traditional performing arts, appearing onstage at festivals and PR events related to the culture of Okinawa and countries outside Japan.
