The Shimokitazawa Music Festival is a cross-generational event for everyone from kids to the elderly, under the concept of the “co-existence of intergenerational sounds.” This annual event unites not just locals but everyone visiting Shimokitazawa in music-driven affection for and rediscovery of this bohemian neighborhood.
This the festival’s milestone 30th edition comprised a live online concert by 30 artists with a connection to Shimokitazawa.
Shimokitazawaongakusaijikkouiinkai
The 46-member Executive Committee of Shimokitazawa Music Festival (Shimokitazawaongakusaijikkouiinkai) plans and runs the event. The key organizers are Masayasu Kashiwa, chairman of the SHIMOKITA Shopping Street Promotion Association, and Smiley Harashima, a musician who organizes numerous music events in Tokyo’s Shimokitazawa and Shinjuku districts, as well as in Kyushu and other places.
