Outline

This time, as a new experiment, we sought to develop the Koto Collection Today by bringing in a producer and composing the program from an objective viewpoint. The producer, composer Noriko Hisada, has been collaborating with Hogaku Ten for the past five years. The world of traditional Japanese musical instruments is often seen from the outside as a closed world, or as a concert of a first-class group of “twenty-string koto only,” but we planned and held this concert to break down these barriers through this new attempt, a different approach to the koto, and innovative programming. This was a joint effort with four composers, Noriko Hisada, Masami Horii, Mamoru Fujieda, and Shigeaki Saegusa.
