Outline

Seita Kozuka is a young man who, tired of caring for his mother, has given up on life. He comes to the ancient Epi-Jomon period site Fugoppe Cave, which exists for real in Yoichicho, Hokkaido. The young man meets the ghost Yoshipa, who carved drawings on rocks and walls inside the cave 1,500 years ago. Even after his death Yoshipa continued to pray for peace and prosperity in this world. When Yoshipa hears Seita’s caregiving-related troubles, he remembers that he himself was cared for when he was alive. Seita has given up on life, unable to talk to anyone, and alone. But Seita is heartened when Yoshipa queries why, in a civilization that is more advanced than when he was alive, Seita doesn’t reach out to someone. Seita leaves the cave full of determination to connect with other people and live in a positive way.
