Outline

Music From Japan continued its Artist Residence program started in 2016. Japanese and American composers and music writers were invited to take part in the lectures, concerts and forums, for the participants from both countries to deepen mutual understanding and further their artistic dialog.

2) Lecture: “Vocal Works of Japan from a singer’s perspective” by Akane Matsudaira

3) Lecture: “Recent Trends in Japanese Contemporary Music” by Yuji Numano
Concert II “Current Sounds Japan III” (Featured Composers: Yoshihiro Kanno, Akira Ito, Madoka Mori)

Profile

Music From Japan Support Committee
A voluntary organization established in Japan to promote the work of Music From Japan, Inc. (MFJ) based in New York City. MFJ has presented concerts of Japanese composers’ works including commissions and educational programs for 48 years to the US and other parts of the world. Utilizing these experiences and network, MFJ and the Support Committee aim to create deeper and active cultural exchanges.
