Yurakucho Window Gallery 2023 was a project involving the display of contemporary artworks in the windows and interiors of shops along Tokyo’s Marunouchi Naka-dori street, one of Japan’s foremost luxury shopping districts, as a way of offering contemporary art as an everyday experience along with shopping and dining. For a limited time, nine participating stores were bedecked with works by 14 up-and-coming contemporary artists which were selected to match the image of each store. The project created complementary opportunities for existing art fans to visit Marunouchi Naka-dori, and for existing shoppers/diners to encounter art.
