By providing locations in the neighborhood where people can easily access and experience traditional culture, and by creating the opportunity for citizens to learn about Hachioji’s culture, the Committee aims to discover new local resources and make assertive use of them. The project offers systematic hands-on puppetry lessons under the instruction of Koryu Nishikawa, the fifth grand master of Hachioji Kuruma Ningyo Puppet Theater’s Nishikawa Koryu Troupe, with the ultimate objective of performing Hachioji Kuruma Ningyo on stage.
