”the creation of a platform for activities to support continuity”

  • Organization : Session House Planning Office
  • Section : Project for improvements in the creative environment
  • Type of Grant Program : Single
  • Art Forms : Dance

Outline

This project aimed to overcome the three-year impact of the coronavirus pandemic, which has resulted in (1) a decrease in the number of active young dancers, (2) a decline in the attendance rate for performing arts, and (3) a slump in international exchange. Hoping for the enthusiastic participation of young dancers, we are inviting 10 groups to perform at the U25 Theater 21 Festival and the U35 Theater 21 Festival, with the condition that they will be awarded a session award and invited to the Korean International Festival. Five groups were selected for each event. Audience surveys and Zoom impression sessions will be held for each performance. Two dance researchers supervised the project, analyzed the questionnaire, analyzed the works, and held discussions with the dancers. Five teams selected from among the 10 teams were asked to create a new work based on the analysis results. “Dance Flower” performance was held by six groups, including one dancer group invited from NDA of Korea. The Session House Award was selected by the Planning Office Director, and the “Best Work Award” was awarded to Sae Onishi, and the “Future Award” was awarded to Takuto Sakurai. NDA producer Yu Hosik came to Japan from South Korea. “Nanami Koge” has been selected to appear on NDA in Daegu in the summer of 2024. Session House Planning Office staff from Japan traveled to Korea to select the Korean production for the next project. Session House Planning Office is trying to communicate.
