Outline

Mihon_ichi2024 was held from Friday 5 through Tuesday 9 January 2024 at the Oji Theater in the Oji district of metropolitan Tokyo’s Kita-ku. The event is a showcase-style performance featuring emerging theater groups and individuals who have been active for less than three years, or whose representatives are under 25 years old. The event involved 562 people in 12 stagings.

With the support of professional technical staff, the event provided an opportunity for participants to gain experience and knowledge from the effectiveness of the theater’s system. In addition, the event incorporated PR initiatives to convey the appeal of participating organizations, such as interviews and other contributions posted on X and note, extending publicity to a wider range of people.

Professionals such as Kurota Takaaki (Kurozaru), Isaka Tomofumi, and Mizusawa Momoka (Hakoumalabo) who are familiar with Oji Theater’s system in their work on the frontlines of theater were involved in the event as staff members supporting the performances. Additionally, an open call seeking a wide range of theatrical groups and individuals attracted applications from 43 organizations.
After selection by those in charge, groups that particularly matched the object of the project were divided into three teams, with the following nine organizations participating.

A TEAM:
Fwawf_lapnicka, Chottohaishaku, Santentouritsu

B TEAM:

Profile

Mihon_ichi2024
Satohshoji Co. Ltd was established in Kita City in metropolitan Tokyo as a subsidiary of Satodenki Co. Ltd., a wholesaler of electronic material, and was chiefly involved in real estate. Oji Theater was founded by its managing director, who wanted to turn the land in front of Oji station into a theater rather than a warehouse, and get young people to use it. Ever since then it has been at the forefront of Tokyo’s theater scene as a private city theater run by theater professionals, providing generous support to young people. Since 2004, Satohshoji Co. Ltd. has co-organized the biennial Satohsakichi festival, named after the founder of Satodenki Co. Ltd.
In 2019, Oji theater started arts-related production and creation with a focus on theater.
