Outline

Dancer Momoka Kihara reworked her solo “Tako Dance,” which she performed last spring, and move the stage to the House and Atelier of sculptor Denchu Hirakushi, located by the Yanaka Cemetery, for four performances in three days. When one is aware of others and the environment, one is freed from the armor of the “self,” and can discover a slightly lighter version of oneself. Starting from such an assumption, she explored dance “not concentrating on oneself” from two directions: monthly workshops from January to March, and performances. With lighting by Ei Matsumoto and music by Rei Munakata, the performance welcomed the audience into a time and space that slipped slightly from the everyday life, taking advantage of the large windows of the modern atelier architecture and the adjoining Japanese-style house of the residence.
