Outline

“Gekizyou” (Theater) is QoiQoi’s fourth production.

The theater does not talk.
Laughter. Tears. Rapturous applause. It simply watches all the people.
The theater remembers.
It remembers repeated human activity.
The eyes of the audience, the sweat of the cast. The serious profiles of the staff.
The theater does not talk. The theater remembered.
The theater remembered everything.

A spectacle set in a theater and looking at the memories and history of various people. The stage is hung with lots of pieces of wood and surrounded by audience seats on all sides. The actors sit at the back of the theater, fixing their eyes on the stage in silence.

The work depicts various characters, such as people who are excluded from the public system, and dancers who are embroiled in conflicts and cannot return home. The aim of the production was to perform a work that was critical of the arts and culture as a whole, as well as to boost the appeal of Tokyo.
