Outline

An hour and a half-long performance featuring six actors playing multiple roles as family members, lovers, and friends who live around a certain botanical garden. There is no clear indication during the performance of scene breaks or which role an actor is playing at any time. Time and space is obfuscated by the configuration with which actors move around each other, mime that does not imitate real-life movement, and the uncertainty of events, providing a perceptual experience different from everyday life. And yet Basement Mori’s aim was to provide an opportunity to reconsider the society we live in from the perspective of people and relationships that likely exist somewhere.
