Outline

Rika Megumi gives a solo circus performance on a short summer night using the juggling prop known as a Diabolo. Spectators enjoy some light-hearted juggling, and before one knows it, the performance has started to showcase specialized juggling techniques, and darkness has fallen on a precious yet brief evening. Megumi has set herself the challenge of creating a new solo juggling work using light, color, and juggling’s inherent sense of weightlessness.

Profile

Rika Megumi
Juggling artist who specializes in the Diabolo (Chinese yo-yo).
After gaining her “Heaven Artist” license in 2015 as a Tokyo Metropolitan Government-certified performer, she began her performance activities in earnest. With a focus on the nature of juggling – which originally had the function of a toy – Megumi puts together her works by conscientiously creating spaces where time flows in a mysterious way and one can completely empty the mind. Her wide-ranging work encompasses everything from traditional daidogei street performance to stage and circus work as well as technical instruction.
