Outline

This production offers a new form of entertainment incorporating the concept of the traditional Japanese culture of “kuroko,” the black-clad stagehands of traditional theater. GENDAI, a leading Japanese performer who wrote, directs and stars in this production, represented Japan in the world’s biggest dance competition, WORLD OF DANCE Final 2016 and triumphed as the winner.
KUROKO provides a form of entertainment that embodies a “behind-the- scenes aesthetic” by performing in black costumes that deliberately hide the face.
With its independent performance “HOME,” KUROKO has created an experiential stage work that combines visual effects leveraging the unique characteristics of kuroko with physical performance such as street dance, circus arts, and pantomime under the premise “dance to watch and experience.”

Profile

KUROKO
KUROKO was crowned champion out of over 1,000 groups at the Nippon TV event THE DANCE DAY held in 2022.
By incorporating a “behind-the-scenes aesthetic” inspired by the traditional Japanese art of kuroko performers into its performance, the group has created a new form of entertainment using analog human power and resources to generate a creative outlook that shares similarities with movies and CG.
