OPERA -NEO-

  • Organization : OFFICE INFINI Co., Ltd
  • Section : None
  • Type of Grant Program : Single
  • Art Forms : Interdisciplinary

Outline

This production is an original opera on the theme “humankind and cosmos
of the future,” created by composer Masahiro Hiramoto, architect Hajime Narukawa, and astronomer Masaomi Tanaka (scientific director).

This is a completely original work. Following this performance, we are planning to brush up the production and perform it on an even larger stage in two years.

This opera is made up entirely of computer music. Its themes are the state of the world in the 21st century, and achievements in the fields of astronomy and astrophysics, which in recent years have been advancing to a remarkable degree. A number of art works matching the story line of the opera are displayed in an exhibition-like stage space. The audience members will enter this stage space, follow the flow of the work and appreciate it from the same point of view. This way of experiencing the work will give the audience a physical feeling of coexisting with its worldview–something that cannot be experienced in conventional opera.
Every part of this opera–the music, the scenario, the space–is a new work, and the way of seeing it will be something new as well.
