As a band, core of bell’s major objective is to define and radicalize our “cross-disciplinary” practice without relying on abstract word such as “genre-crossing”. By doing so, we aim to clear a path for new realm of expression and to become the foundation for it. By making our activities known to more people of our time and future, we believe that we could contribute to the multi-field, interdisciplinary practice, in which we consider it as our background, as well as to open up its criticism and dialogue for the betterment.
core of bells is a Japanese band originated in Shonan, Kanagawa Prefecture in 2003.
Known for fully reflecting the beach climate of their hometown Shonan, the five-piece band embodies an algae waste of a sunken ship-ghost’s ladle by deceitfully crafting their scatter-minded musical backbone into their stage. The band’s unprecedented, so-called “snitch eating-esque” activity spans from recordings, film production, workshops, camping, to fieldworks of horumon-shop and DIY store. In 2014, the group held a monthly series of performances titled “12 months of the monster and Mr. Boredom” at SuperDeluxe in Roppongi.
