Briefing on Recruitment for the Relight Committee

Genre:
  • Art Project

Following on from last year, the Relight Project is recruiting participants in the Relight Committee. The Relight Committee is an adult education university whose goal is to produce social sculptors.

Based on the concept of social sculpture(*) advocated by Joseph Beuys, we at inVisible define “those who use the creativity and imagination of art to continually create new value in their own lives and work, and act in accordance with this” as social sculptors. We believe that society will become a richer place if the number of social sculptors in various realms grows.

As such, we have launched the Relight Committee to serve as an adult education university based on small classes, with the goal of producing social sculptors. The Relight Committee features a Learning Program, in which students will learn about and discuss the relationship between art and society and examples of this, and a Practical Program, in which students take the lead in undertaking specific projects against the backdrop of the Roppongi district in Tokyo’s Minato Ward. Through this, we hope to swell the ranks of people with practical skills and an awareness of the possibilities that art offers, with the capacity to broaden their own horizons.
