“Eclipse” combines the Balinese puppet-shadow play tradition of “Wayang Kulit” and “Topeng” masked dance. Based on a story from the prologue of the epic Indian poem “Mahabharata” about the origins of solar and lunar eclipses, it was created for TACT/FESTIVAL 2017.
Coming to Japan again and bringing some outstanding Balinese artists is Kadek Budi Setiawan, who was exceptional in the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre production “Sandaime Richard” last year.
As well as the rare chance to see “Wayang Kulit” and “Topeng” in Japan, performances of “Gender Wayang” gamelan music and more offer a precious opportunity to experience the splendid traditional arts of Bali which the whole family will enjoy.
