Kabuki

Kabuki is one of Japan’s representative traditional art of entertainment, integrating elements of music, dance, and acting. It is said to have been created in Kyoto around 1600. Since then, it has continued to pass down its traditions while incorporating modernity, continuing to exist as a form of the theater which has fascinated people for more than 400 years. In 2005, it was registered as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.
After explanation of Kabuki history and actions by a Kabuki actor, participants can explanation prop for Kabuki.
In addition, you can experience mie (pose), lines or enjoy kumatori ( Kabuki make up) demonstration by a Kabuki actor.

Saturday, November 4
【1st session】12:00-13:00
・ Explanation of Kabuki history and actions by a Kabuki actor, and experience of mie(pose) and line / Time: 12:00-12:30
・ Experience trying prop for Kabuki. You can take photo with props such as Japanese sword. / Time: 12:30-13:00
【2nd session】14:00-14:45
・Explanation of Kabuki history, talk about name succession, and experoenxe of mie(pose) and line by a Kabuki actor.
【3rd session】17:00-18:00
・ Explanation of Kabuki history and actions by a Kabuki actor, and experience of kumadori (Kabuki makeup) demonstration by a Kabuki actor / Time: 17:00-17:30
・ Experience trying prop for Kabuki. You can take photo with props such as Japanese sword. / Time: 17:30~18:00

* Guidance is available in English and we will hand out the manual in Japanese, English, Chinese and Korean.
* There will be an English interpreter only in 2nd and 5th session.
