Call for TURN Fes 4 Supporters!

TURN Fes 4 will be held over the course of three days at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum from Friday, August 17 – Sunday, August 19. Taking place for the 4th year, TURN Fes is an annual gathering of TURN initiatives from all over Japan. Interactions that evolved from the “TURN Interactive Program” (* 1) and activities opened to the community under “TURN LAND” (* 2) will be presented in a variety of forms.
This three-day event offers visitors the chance to have an immersive experience of TURN: in addition to an exhibition of works at the venue, visitors can enjoy performances, interactive original programs, workshops and talks in their own way.
TURN Fes supporters are the ones responsible for creating an environment like this where visitors can relax and be themselves.

*1 TURN Interactive Program
This collaborative program brings about encounters between artists, welfare facilities and communities of people requiring social support, who go on to build relationships with each other. The program also involves artist-conducted research aimed at exploring the hidden issues in society and everyday life.

*2 TURN LAND
In this program welfare facilities and different communities organize participatory events together with artists. We create places to practise TURN on a daily basis, by giving the conventional functions of various spaces the added role of an open cultural facility where local residents can gather.

What TURN Fes supporters do?
Supporters play the role of hosts to helps attendees enjoy the Fes.
In a venue visited by a variety of people including those who require special assistance, they will act as guides to help visitors find ways to enjoy TURN Fes.
Prior to the Fes, we will be holding an orientation for supporters to get to know each other better, and learn about visitor assistance and accessibility.

This supporter role is ideal for:
•People interested in the TURN concept and who share the same views
•People interested in helping orchestrate art projects
•People who want to communicate with artists
•People interested in welfare
•People who want to be more active in society

What sort of people take part?
A wide range of people — company employees and students, homemakers and senior citizens — have taken part.
