TOKYO FABBERS’ MEETING♯2
Is FAB Useful Everywhere? Discovering and Utilizing Local Resources Through FAB: Ikejiri Institute of Design (IID Setagaya Monozukuri School)

Genre:
  • Art Project ,
  • Lecture / Symposium ,
  • Others

TOKYO FABBERS’ MEETING is a monthly discussion in which every participant can consider issues faced by FAB hubs and questions from the FABBERS who use them. Members of TOKYO FABBERS and everyone else taking part exchange opinions while exploring solutions to a range of FAB-related issues.

This second session will consider the potential for regional development through the utilization of local resources by IID Setagaya Monozukuri School, which has recently introduced FAB machines.
IID has a strong background in regional development initiatives, including the Setagaya Bread Festival, but what effects will this new challenge – manufacturing via FAB – have on the local characteristics of Setagaya-ku, which is principally a residential area?
With special guest Yuuka Watanabe of FabLab Kamakura, we will think about what FAB can achieve, looking at specific examples of community-based FAB in the form of resource mapping and morning-FAB in Kamakura.
We look forward to your active participation in this event.
