A festival to introduce and hand down traditional culture, taking place at Hachioji, to where history and culture were carried and fostered at the intersection of the “vertical” north-south roads joining the mountains (Yatsugatake・Chichibu・Nikko) and the sea (Oiso・Kamakura・Yokohama・Odawara), and the “horizontal” east-west road linking Edo with the Koshu region.
Following on from last year’s “Legendary Tamatebacko (Treasure Box)”, a procession of the kind usually seen at celebratory events or the accession of Kabuki actors to a predecessor’s name will enliven the streets of the modern city. The high spirits and shouts of the rickshaw pullers are a highlight.
