Less than an hour’s train ride from Tokyo city center, Mount Takao (Takao-san) is a well-loved spot for viewing autumn leaves. At the foot of this mountain, Shishimai (Lion Dance), in which the lions may “bite” people on the head to bringgood luck, Kasa-Mawash (Umbrella Spinning)and other traditional Kyokugei(Japanese acrobatics)will be staged when the autumn leaves are at their best. At the same time, TAKAO 599 MUSEUM will offer Edo Woodblock Prints workshops in which participants can make by hand woodblock print bookmarks patterned with autumn leaves and the small animals that inhabit Mount Takao.
