“Echoing~Words~Body”is a performance series from the National Theatre and Arts Council Tokyo which began in 2019 with the aim of bringing audiences into contact with the appeal of dance through a wide range of performances that transcend genre and other barriers. “Words and the body,” the two dance aspects which have influenced each other since ancient times and evolved alongside each other sometimes in harmony and sometimes antagonistically, are approaching a horizon opening up in the present.
For this second performance in the series, three new works will explore diverse facets of human “life” under the theme “living in the moment.” On the “here and now” of the stage, the choreographers and dancers create three microcosms with words, bodies and movements that are sometimes vibrant and dynamic, sometimes calm and contemplative. Audiences can expect abundant on-stage excitement and potential of the sort that only new works can offer.
