MAKIM: combined dance project with Kim Itoh and Maki Morishita
Two people with a strange affinity find each other across time and turn the world around!

This stage project is an encounter between two dancers sharing a strange affinity; two people who have independently pursued the concept of “physique, voice and music,” and now envision a new chemical reaction in dance expression.
Though featured in the line-up for this year’s TACT/Festival 2020 in May, this noteworthy performance was unavoidably postponed under the state of emergency: now it is being actualized as an updated spin-off piece for the stage.
Itoh, who “plays words with the musical instrument of the body,” has been refining the members and methodology of his physical theater company, GERO.
Meanwhile, challenging her former mentor Itoh with members of her own company Morishita Stand is Maki Morishita and her philosophy of “turning music into blood, flesh, and spirit.” Audiences are sure to be mesmerized by the process of reaction between these kindred spirits of dance, and what kind of music their bodies and voices will play.

This performance is being held at Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre with measures designed to prevent the spread of coronavirus (COVID 19) infection. When you purchase a ticket/visit the theater, please make sure you check notice and requests on the theater website, and wear a mask. Please note that people with a higher temperature than normal (1°C higher or above, or a temperature over 37.5°C) or those who are deemed to be unwell will be refused admission.
