Roppongi Art Night is a celebration of art staged across the Roppongi district and held since 2009.Since 2018 organizers have offered an Inclusive Tour of the event for diverse participants.

This year’s Roppongi Art Night was cancelled due to coronavirus, but in order to share the pleasure of art regardless of the pandemic, organizers are offering an inclusive art program online which is designed to allow different participants to enjoy art together.

*Anyone can take part regardless of disability or type of disability

Program details

(1)“Art Night TALK: All about art appreciation”

Mr. Shirahama has been attending art exhibitions for many years, and Mr. Idomoto recently woke up to the joys of art appreciation. These two visually impaired art enthusiasts and a museum curator divulge the key to enjoying art in a live streamed discussion. We will also be taking questions and impressions from viewers on the day. We hope you relax and enjoy the program!

(2) Online art appreciation event for enjoying art through words

You can take part from anywhere in the country! Non-seeing art enthusiasts join us to enjoy artworks together in this program. Participants can relax and join this event from an environment in which they are free to talk.

Date/time: Sunday, March 20, 2022 13:00 – 15:00 (day session)/ 18:00 – 20:00 (evening session)
Target participants: Anyone interested in this program, a small number of seeing, non-seeing and visually impaired people per session
Capacity: Around 10 people per session
How to participate: The event will be held using Zoom

(3) Online art appreciation event for enjoying art through sign language and physicality

Participants will be guided by a “sign communicator” who uses sign language and physicality as a means of expression. People who use sign language as well as those who do not will enjoy this online artwork appreciation session.

Date/time: Monday (public holiday), March 21, 2022 14:00 – 16:00
Target participants: No experience of sign language necessary, anyone interested in this program, people interested in sign language and physical expression
Capacity: Around 10 people
