Tokyo Grand Tea Ceremony 2023

Tokyo Metropolitan Government and Arts Council Tokyo, Tokyo Metropolitan Foundation for History and Culture will hold Tokyo Grand Tea Ceremony, a popular autumn tradition at two venues. The event will be held at two separate venues in Tokyo, making it easy to attend — everyone from those with experience in the Japanese tea ceremony to children and foreigners who are new to the culture.

The latest information on program changes and cancellations will be announced on the official website.

Tea ceremony program

Tea Ceremony (Indoor)
Please make the reservation through the official website.
*Advanced reservation is required. (Reservation period: August 10 to September 10)
*After the deadline, a lottery will be held to determine the winning reservations. The lottery results will be sent in late September via email.

Guests can request reservations via application form, first desired date and time, second desired date and time, number of participants (up to 2 people), and desired venue of Tea Ceremony (Indoor).

– Participation fee to be paid on that day.
– If there is a large number of applications, participants will be chosen by a lottery.
– In case the application is below capacity, or there is cancellation on the day of
the event, same-day tickets will be sold at the venues.
– Personal information obtained via the application process will be used only for
the purpose of contacting and event operation.
– The used ingredients, allergic substances, and nutrition facts of the sweets served at the event will be disclosed on our website. Please check it before you make a reservation.

Indoor Tea Ceremony for Children
■Venue:
Farmhouse of the Tenmyo Family (Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum) 
■Eligible Participants:
– Children below junior high school age and their guardians.
– One guardian can participate with one or two children.

*The programs may be changed or cancelled due to any unavoidable circumstances such as weather.

Fee

– All programs except for Indoor Tea Ceremony for Children 800 yen per person
– Indoor Tea Ceremony for Children 500 yen per person

General: 300 yen, 65ages+: 150 yen, Free for children aged 12 or under and junior high students residing or studying in Tokyo
■ Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum
Free of charge during Tokyo Grand Tea Ceremony 2023 (October 21 and 22)
